TRAVEL TO: Iceland

I feel like Iceland is such a remote place. I was wondering if I should visit Iceland but if I ever had the chance to I would. It's great to see what there town and culture is like from a remote place. As well as a great place to see the Northern Lights there is plenty more to see there such as the places history - everywhere has a interesting back story to it - volcanic areas of national parks & lakes and the Blue Lagoon.

From pictures like this the one above I see similarites comapred to Norway in the apperance of the town.

The main place to visit is Reykjavik where most of the history and happenings are as it is the main town but else where you can see beautiful natural landscapes. I would love to walk around, despite the coldness and see these places that are unique to Iceland.

Blue Lagoon with black volcanic rocks around. The man-made Blue Lagoon are rich in minerals therefore people who bathing in there is said to help people with skin diseases. There is also a operations based to find cures for skin diseases there using the water.

I wouldn't be much interested in the warming 'healing' water of the blue lagoon but what I would love to do which I've seen people do is try a snowmobile! The cold temperatures, remote location and snow who knows what you can see while having fun driving a snowmobile!

Look at that view!

Look at that view!

Have you been to Iceland, what did you do there?

WHY BLOG?

Sometimes I need to remind myself why I blog. The reasons why people start blogging means something different to so many people. There are so many types of blogs and sometimes a misleading content of what 'needs' to be posted. Blogs are so personal and should be posted with whatever you want. For me the reason why I blog and started is to show my holiday photos - I was taking so many photos and loving it but when I showed them to people they just seem disinterested. I was taking photos from different perspectives and wanted people to appreciate them more. Travel and photography is a real interest of mine, recent and growing. I thought I had to post the 'typical' beauty blogger posts because that's what people seem to like more but I wasn't particularly liking doing those post - so I've deleted them.

Some people care so much about views but just a few people who view my blog I am shocked by so the amount of views I have now. To most people blogging obviously it's nothing but I am happily shocked by the views and comments on my posts, I am just a newbie still after all. Also stating you have a blog to people can stir up so many preconceptions.

Over a couple of years I sometimes question myself about my photography and writing this blog because of what others (particularly 'close' to me) will think about it, but whenever I do complete and publish a post the excitement I get is far better. I get to show people, whoever it is, my photographs from my holidays and trips away in some hope that they will like them and comment something as simple as "great photos!" Constant content can't always be the case and focusing on what you want to post only and not get mix up in the huge blogging world I think a lot of people can relate to.

CHRISTMAS HOLIDAY 2015 PART 1: Staying in Algarve

Photos from my Christmas holiday! This year I went to Portugal, staying on the south coast in the Algarve.

This holiday I needed to relax, I wanted to chill out but I couldn't really. I didn't take many photos then I usually do at all but here are a few from my week.

My sea view from my hotel room
Only one day had bad weather but it was still warm.

Shopping and restaurants on the coast - only a walk down the road!

I love talking photos like this for some reason I have loads you can see more of from my MEXICO Holiday Pics

Culture

Loads of Orange Trees everywhere.

Culture

It is Christmas after all so this post has to feature some pictures of the Christmas lights.

There wasn't much fuss about Christmas here as they had some really bad floods just only a month before! Looking at the pictures of the floods and then walking around the same places, you wouldn't believe it although there was still some water left and some shops still weren't open because of the damage from them.

New Years Eve was a bigger deal, just as we were leaving they were setting up a big stage on the beach and lights.

I also had a day in Lisbon which was great to see the capital!

Have you been to the Algarve or Lisbon? What do you think of my photos?

TRAVEL TO: Northern Lights

This is the first post in a 'series' taking about where I would love to visit and travel to. This post is about the beautiful sights of looking at the aurora in the night sky - The Northern Lights, or Aurora Borealis, is on most bucket lists and they are one of the top things I want to see. In these posts I'll research the places briefly and write about information that I find interesting and will help in the future as I do plan to visit these places. Any places around the world you would love to visit?

I would defiantly research when to see the Northern Lights to make sure I don't miss them, it would be a huge disappointment if you made the trip to see them and it just doesn't appear, wouldn't it?

- The Aurora occurs when highly charged electrons from the solar wind collide with different atmospheric elements in the ring surrounding the North Pole so you'll have to travel pretty far up north, practically on top of the world!
I found the best points to see them are:

1. Norway
Svalbard, Norrway - I have been to Norway before and it was incredible but that was on a cruise to a few places on the south-east coast which I'll do a blog post about soon because the landscape is stunning there.

*My own photo from Norway*

For seeing the Northern Lights, Svalbard is a Norwegian island well up into the arctic. The best time to see the Northern Lights are between November and February. Why? Well between mid-November and end of January Svalbard is without daylight. I know part of Norway is in darkness for half a year therefore your chances are increased of seeing the aurora lights. The other side to just visiting here is outside this period i.e. daylight when you can see, there's a better chance of seeing reindeer's, walrus' and polar bears! Things you don't see often so a great experience! I would just go to see them.

2. Finland
Another place and where I would prefer to go to see the Northern Lights and that's because in Kakslauttanen, Finland they have an igloo arctic resort where you can see the lights from your own igloo, how amazing!?

You get to stay in a traditional log cabin complete with sauna and open fire. THE PERFECT combination! Ever since I found out and saw the picture of the igloo resort I've been interested in going.
If the lights don't appear at least you can instead do snowy activities such as a reindeer safari, or rent some skis. I've never tried skiing or really any snow sports but would love to so much although I am so bad at ice skating I might be even worse at skiing.

As these places are so up north you'll have to fly to the nearest city i.e.Oslo or Helsinki and make your own way up north but the hassle is totally worth it and if you plan and organised ahead, which I am good with, lesser the hassle. There are other places to see the Northern Lights - they have been even spotted in the UK which is crazy and I would of loved to see them.

The two best places I mentioned just sound great anyways to visit, I mean reindeer safari...! The weather is something you'll have to 100% brace yourself for, I can't imagine how cold it can get but you are practically on top of the world! I don't mind the coldness it is part of the experience and I prefer autumn/winter season anyways, plus it is worth it to see the Northern Lights.

Have you seen the northern lights, what was it like?
